- Using AB 205 alternative permitting process through the California Energy Commission (CEC), Vistra will get the permit to build the battery project from the State.
- Morro Bay gets a battery storage facility.
- The old power plant will stay in place because the CEC will not force Vistra to tear it down at the cost of $30 million.
- Our local community will have much less input on the project, and Vistra will not provide important community benefits specifically to Morro Bay unless the State orders it.
- With the old plant still standing, there will be few--if any--new visitor-serving activities on the site.
- The industrial PG&E substation will remain in place.
In short: The site will remain exactly as it is, but with the addition of a battery storage facility.
